Spurs colleagues Jake Livermore and Jon Obika faced each other with their respective loan clubs on Monday night – Jake’s Hull City prevailing over Jon’s Brighton & Hove Albion in their FA Cup fifth round replay.

Jake played 90 minutes for Hull, who claimed a 2-1 win on the night, while Jon was a late substitute for Brighton as they chased an ultimately elusive equaliser.

Weekend Action

Jake Livermore bagged a goal and an assist for Hull City on a weekend of contrasting fortunes for our loanees.

Midfielder Jake teed up former Spur Tom Huddlestone to open the scoring in Hull’s 4-0 Premier League win over Cardiff City – later getting on the scoresheet himself as he swept home his side’s fourth from the edge of the box.

Jake wasn’t the only one of our loanees to hit the target this weekend. Cristian Ceballos must have thought he’d won the game for Portuguese side FC Arouca when he fired home in the 88th minute to put his team 2-1 up at Sporting Braga. The hosts, however, restored parity a minute into stoppage time.

Back in the Premier League, Lewis Holtby’s Fulham took a 28th minute lead at West Bromwich Albion but a late leveller from the hosts denied the Cottagers all three points.

Four of our lads saw action in the Championship, but all suffered narrow defeats with their loan clubs.

Ryan Fredericks’ Millwall slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Barnsley, Bongani Khumalo’s Doncaster Rovers lost at Yeovil by the same scoreline, while substitute Jon Obika was denied by a fine Ali Al-Habsi save as his Brighton & Hove Albion side went down 2-1 at home to Wigan Athletic.

Tom Carroll, meanwhile, started for Queens Park Rangers as they visited Charlton Athletic. He was withdrawn with nine minutes left, with a late strike seeing the Addicks triumph 1-0.

In Spain, Yago Falque played 90 minutes for Rayo Vallecano as they suffered a 1-0 La Liga reverse at home to Sevilla.
