Our on-loan defender put in an assured performance at left-back as Boro claimed a 2-0 home win over Hartlepool United in League Two.
Having been an unused substitute for Stevenage’s previous two games, Connor was thrust into the starting line-up by boss Teddy Sheringham for his first ever taste of senior football and repaid the faith of our legendary former striker by winning the corner from which his side took the lead on the stroke of half-time.
Stevenage sealed the win shortly before the end, with Connor completing the full 90 minutes.
There was also a start for Grant Ward in the Championship on Saturday, the midfielder lining up for Rotherham United as they made the trip to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers. Grant was substituted on 78 minutes, his side going on to lose 4-2.
North of the border, attacker Nathan Oduwa went on as a 60th-minute substitute for Rangers as they registered a 1-0 home win over Hibernian in the Scottish Championship on Sunday. Defender Dominic Ball was an unused substitute for Mark Warburton’s men.
