Loan round-up

Wed 11 April 2018, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Luke Amos went close to bagging his third goal for Stevenage on Tuesday night, but ultimately his side had to settle for a point at home to Mansfield as our on-loan players enter the business end of the campaign with their respective clubs.

Luke, who has shone for Boro in recent weeks, saw a late shot saved by Stags goalkeeper Conrad Logan in what ended up as a 1-1 draw in League Two.

After coming on as a half-time substitute in a 1-0 home defeat by Colchester last month, Luke has played 90 minutes in each of mid-table Stevenage’s last four games as they’ve remained unbeaten.

In the same division, striker Ryan Loft has returned to fourth-placed Exeter City’s matchday squad and has been on the bench for their last three games, but is yet to add to his sole appearance against Mansfield back in February.

In League One, striker Shayon Harrison featured as a second-half substitute for Southend United in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Blackburn, in addition to recent home wins over Gillingham and Rotherham. His side are currently 13th in the table.

Anton Walkes was involved in a dramatic game for Portsmouth at the weekend as Pompey battled back from a goal down three times to secure a point from a 3-3 home draw with Rochdale thanks to a last-gasp Rochdale own goal. Unfortunately, Anton, who has featured primarily at right-back but on Saturday played in midfield, limped off at the end of the game with a hamstring injury and has now been ruled out of crucial trips to Plymouth and Bradford over the next week. Portsmouth are only outside the play-off places on goal difference.

Left-back Connor Ogilvie has been an unused substitute for Gillingham in their last two games, both of which have finished goalless, after his side suffered three consecutive defeats before that. They’re 15th, nine points clear of the drop zone.

In the Championship, defender Cameron Carter-Vickers continues to play regularly for Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys moved up a couple of places to 12th after a first win in eight games on Tuesday night in the form of a 1-0 triumph at home to Barnsley in what turned out to be Mick McCarthy’s final game in charge. The only game Cameron has missed since joining the club was a 2-2 home draw with Millwall on Easter Monday, when he was on the bench.

Josh Onomah played the last 23 minutes of a 3-0 home win over Reading on April 3 in his only playing time for Aston Villa over the last month, with the midfielder on the bench for Villa’s recent outings. Steve Bruce’s men are fourth in the Championship after last night's big 1-0 win over Cardiff.

Meanwhile, Marcus Edwards has returned to the Club from his loan at Norwich City.

In the Premier League, winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has earned his first two top-flight starts at Burnley over the last fortnight, with the Clarets seeing off West Brom and Watford in consecutive 2-1 away wins.

And in Australia, Tom Glover has remained as Central Coast Mariners’ substitute goalkeeper, with his side currently ninth in the A-League.
