The Belgian midfielder was outstanding against Liverpool on Saturday - his first start for six weeks after recovering from injury.
With Eric Dier suspended, Mousa lined-up with Dele Alli in the central holding roles in our 4-2-3-1 system and with Eric now ready to return, plus Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb recovering from injury, Mauricio Pochettino certainly has options.
“We want to be up there so we need that competition and that goes for every position,” said Mousa, voted Man of the Match by broadcasters BT Sport.
“At the beginning of the season I was on the right and I like this (central) position as well. There are a few positions I’m happy to play in. Dele is in good form, playing well and it’s enjoyable to play with him. That made it easy to come back.”
Mousa agreed with the opinion coming out of the dressing room that we deserved to win the game and ruin Jurgen Klopp’s high-profile first match in charge of the Reds.
“The gaffer said beforehand that Liverpool would be very motivated to play for their new manager but we did well and didn’t give them too many chances,” he added.
“We had the chances to win the game and we’re disappointed we didn’t take the three points."
