This and last season's games at the Valley couldn't have been more contrasting. Last December we were 2-0 down before we knew what had hit us and 3-0 down before coming back into the game and eventually losing 3-1.
Last night we bossed the game from start to finish, scored early, looked defensively sound, in control in midfield and dangerous on the break with Teddy Sheringham linking the play superbly.
Glenn said: "We have dug in when we have needed to this season and passed it when we have needed to pass it.
"I am happy with that balance of our play and there is a lot of resolve needed in this division.
"Charlton beat us twice last season and we learned a lot from that. When you come to Charlton you know it will be an awkward game. You have to dig in and the players understood what type of game was needed.
"They went out and implemented that and I felt we were worthy winners."
The 1-0 victory courtesy of Simon Davies' wonderful strike left us joint-top of the Premiership.
"It's not been a bad start," added Glenn. "But nothing has been been achieved. Three matches into the season isn't a significant sign of how the season is going to go."
Glenn Hoddle insisted that the lads learned from their painful lessons against Charlton last season to complete our best start in the Premiership.
