Les ready for combat

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand knows exactly what to expect from Leicester City on Saturday — he says it’s now up to us to deal with it.

The Foxes are flying in third place in the Premiership and amazingly have only conceded ONE goal in seven away matches. They have won four of those matches and lost just one and have suffered just two defeats all season.

The superb record is all about City’s system — a five-man defence with three towering central defenders including the inspirational duo Gerry Taggart and Matt Elliott (pictured below), up and down wing-backs, one of the most hard-working midfields around in Robbie Savage, Neil Lennon and Muzzy Izzet and explosive talent up front.

Ferdinand and Sergei Rebrov now spearhead our challenge to break City’s amazing away record — but Ferdinand reckons our main threat could come from elsewhere.

Big Les said: “Leicester are a very good unit and if you look at their record this season it’s up with the best of them as far as goals against is concerned so we know we are up against it.

“The good thing is that we’ve got people like Tim Sherwood who can come through the midfield, people like Shaggy (Darren Anderton) who can come through the midfield and score goals as well.

“Leicester are a tough unit and have always played like that since they’ve been in the Premier League. It’s a major help to them that they have been together for such a long time, they’ve played the same system from day one and they all know their roles in the team. They all know their jobs and they are probably the best team in the league at doing that.

“They have three big fellas who play at the back and that’s how they set their stall out. We know what they are like in the midfield — they hustle and bustle, hassle you and don’t give you any time on the ball.

“So we know what to expect and it’s about how we cope with it and deal with it that will get us a result. Obviously we’ve talked about it in training this week and the manager has a few ideas on how to combat it.”
