Having been around the footballing block a few times during his long career, Les is well aware of the perils and pitfalls that can emerge from such encounters if lower division opposition is taken lightly.
Les is adamant that the prize is the same, whatever the opposition, and each game should be prepared for accordingly.
"Without a shadow of a doubt," said Les. "All you can think about is that it’s another game. Your preparation is exactly the same because you want the end result to be the same and the end result is you want to progress through to the next round or you want to win the game.
"You’ve got to prepare in the same way as you would for a Man Utd or a Coventry or Southampton game."
Another factor that Les is conscious of is the fact that underdogs tend to raise their game against top-flight opposition and relish snapping at the heels of the big boys.
"I’ve played against Torquay a few times over the years in cup competitions. What you do know about these sides is they come down to White Hart Lane, they want to impress, they want to cause an upset — you’ve got to be on your guard for that."
Les is 7/2 to open the scoring with odds of 15/1 on him netting first in a 4-0 win - click for details.
