Les made the announcement while speaking exclusively to hotspur magazine.
Les, fondly remembered by Spurs fans for over 100 appearances and over 30 goals for the Lillywhites will join the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation as an ambassador attending events to promote the Foundation’s work in and around North London.
“We’re thrilled that Les has accepted our invitation to become our first ambassador”, said Kathryn Robinson, Chief Executive of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. “Les was a model player and a true professional. He continues to be a role model that Spurs fans of all generations look up to and we look forward to working with him.”
Although a veteran of many clubs, since his retirement, Les’ passion for Spurs has always been clear and his contribution to the Foundation underlines the commitment to the Club he has had for many years.
Les Ferdinand is guest editor of this May’s issue of hotspur.
“I can always remember being in Wood Green and I saw a few Tottenham apprentices in their tracksuits walking up the High Street”, he says. “They were proud of the fact they were Tottenham players. I thought, ‘God, it would be good to play for Tottenham.’ I was fascinated by it and held them in such high esteem … A few years later I managed to pull on the number nine shirt for Tottenham and it was a dream come true.”
