‘Leo’ made his comeback from a chipped ankle in last weekend's semi-final disappointments at Old Trafford, returned to the starting line-up against Bradford City on Tuesday and now, after an injury-hit campaign, is looking forward to the final furlong of the season.
Our Norwegian midfielder said: “Everything is okay now and I’m pleased to have come through the game against Bradford. Things are looking good, I just need to play more games to get back to full fitness.
“I want to play and we have to try and be positive. We have to aim for as many points as possible and be positive for the new manager. For me it’s about playing games to get fit.
“Everyone has the chance to prove themselves to the manager and that’s what it’s all about now.”
He expects a testing time at Sunderland on Saturday, adding: “It’s a tough place to go and they have a lot to play for as well.
“Away games have been tough this season but hopefully we can get some points at this stage.
“There are some massive games left and maybe now is the time to improve, do well against big teams and start to prepare for next season.”
Oyvind Leonhardsen is trying to turn negative into positive for the rest of the season.
