Leo in for reserves

Posted on 23 January 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton will field a strong reserve team against Chelsea at Kingstonian FC on Tuesday night.

Oyvind Leonhardsen and Ben Thatcher both play and are joined by Hans Segers in goal as Ian Walker deputises for Neil Sullivan and Gavin Kelly remains on loan at Kingstonian.

Willem Korsten, Dave McEwen, who played against Southampton on Saturday, Simon Davies and Alton Thelwell have all appeared in the Premiership this season, Matthew Etheringon is a squad regular and played in the Worthington Cup and both Ian Hillier and Ciaran Toner have been in the first team squad.

Recent capture from East Fife Stevie Ferguson may also feature.

Boss Chris explained: “Hans will be involved because Ian Walker is in the first team and, of course, did very, very well on Saturday.

“Ben Thatcher will have his first competitive game back, which will be a bonus and Oyvind Leonhardsen will be involved because he needs games.

“The rest are lads that have played regularly and in that respect it’s been good because we’ve had that element of consistency.

“If you are looking at reserve team football it’s the ideal team, maybe with another couple of the younger lads from the youth team, but it’s mainly lads who are looking to break into the first team.”
