The Norwegian midfielder was back in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Bradford City after a seven-week absence with a hamstring injury.
‘Leo’ was not quite ready for a return to action but with a full week’s training ahead he might be able to feature in Monday’s big North London derby against Arsenal at the Lane.
And the 30-year-old insists our pre-season target is still on. “I think the top six is still possible,” said Leo. “Hopefully we can continue our home form and keep doing the business there and then we can look to improve away from home.
“I trained twice last week and again this week and hopefully everything will be fine. I just need match practice to get back to full fitness.
“It’s nice to be back and hopefully I will stay injury free now and get back to good form as soon as possible.”
The frustrating thing for Leo was the timing of his injury. He was in fine form and actually pulled up when he was on a hat-trick against Derby County on October 21.
“I think I was doing well,” he added. “Obviously I need a few more games to get back in form but the injury seems fine and hopefully with this week and a few games and I will be back.”
