The winger lit up the right flank all night as we toppled Watford 4-1 in our first game of the Barclays Reserve League season.
Aaron scored the key second goal to put us 2-1 up after Watford had grabbed an equaliser just before half-time and then left four defenders in his wake before setting up the fourth for Lee Barnard. Fredi Kanoute and Calum Davenport also scored.
Coach Clive said: “I’m pleased Aaron scored his goal because there were a couple of opportunities where he might have had shots and was unselfish in trying to play other people in.
"His goal was what you want to see - pace, attacking his defender and then a shot that deceived the goalkeeper. We then saw the best of him in how he provided the fourth goal for Lee Barnard.
“He has electric pace and is a threat. He’s not the biggest but he’s tenacious, he works back well to regain possession and in an attacking sense he has the ability to go inside and outside a defender. I was pleased for him and pleased with the way we went about the job.”
Clive Allen was delighted that Aaron Lennon capped an outstanding reserve display with his first goal for the club on Monday night.
