This time last year, the Danish playmaker found the net against West Brom at the Lane, his first goal for us in the Premier League and the first of a run of seven in his final 17 matches of the 2013-14 league campaign.
He was at it again at the King Power Stadium as we held off a Foxes team scrapping for their lives.
Harry Kane opened the scoring as we controlled the early exchanges but Leicester hit back, created chances and levelled at the start of the second half. The pressure continued until Harry was dragged down for a free-kick in the 70th minute.
Christian and Erik Lamela stood over the free-kick in the inside-left position, 30 yards from goal and it looked like a cross was the option only for Christian to go for goal and hit his strike to perfection.
“I don’t know if I out-thought them but I looked at the goalkeeper and luckily saw that he moved a little bit and I changed my mind, decided to shoot and it went in,” said Christian.
“It’s my seventh goal of the season – the same as my total in the Premier League for last season – so it’s going well. And it’s always nice this time of year!
“We had some luck in the first half when they hit the post and had some big chances but we created chances as well, perhaps not enough, but it was a proper fight out there.”
Christian now turns his attention to Manchester United and a huge game at the Lane on Sunday, a Premier League showdown at noon.
“It’s a quick recovery and then be ready for Sunday,” added Christian, who has now struck winning goals at Hull, Swansea and Leicester as well as Southampton at home. “Everyone wants to play and we’re all looking forward to it.”
