Tottenham Hotspur Foundation continues to work with Special Olympics at all levels through a range of partnerships at local, regional and international levels that form part of Tottenham Hotspur FC's Global Football Ambassador Role.

The Foundation were invited to support Special Olympics Poland and The Polish FA to deliver parts of their UEFA Inclusive Grass Roots Football event held in Warsaw, Poland last week.

The events included the Foundation developing and delivering a bespoke disability football coaching workshop, with a key focus on how to work with players who have a learning/intellectual disability.

The Professional Footballers Association supported the Foundation by enabling Spurs Legend Paul Allen to support our staff to deliver the workshop.

Former club captain and legend Gary Mabbutt also supported the Foundation to deliver the activities in Poland, offering his experiences of delivering grass roots football workshops via the FA.

There was also time for Paul and Gary to offer a master class in football coaching, using all of their experiences from their successful playing careers to coach a group of local coaches and university students in how to deliver an elite level football session.

The events in Poland included Paul and Gary taking part in a fun 5-a-side football competition playing alongside athletes with and without learning disabilities.

The main aim of this UEFA and Poilsh FA initiative was not only to encourage young people to play football but also to promote football for people with learning disabilities/intellectual disabilities.
