Ledley King has welcomed the capture of his former England under-21 teammate Michael Carrick.
The brilliant central defender is now, of course, making big strides on the international scene, but knows the quality of the 23-year-old midfielder from his young England days and feels he should be performing on the Premiership stage.
"It is a good signing, he is young and definitely a Premiership player," considered Ledley. "He is going to be a great addition to the squad.
"I have played with him at under-21 level and have always rated him a great player."
Ledley also expects that our English signings since January - Jermain Defoe, Paul Robinson, Sean Davis and now Carrick - have a big future for both club and country.
"They are all players on the fringe of the England squad and it is great that we've got such young English talents in our squad. It will be good for the future."
