"It never happens," sighed Ledley, who made a reserve team return against Portsmouth on Tuesday evening. "At the end of last season I was saying that I was looking forward to getting a nice pre-season under my belt and starting the new season.
"Unfortunately, I got injured, but I'm getting used to it now. I managed to do most of the running this year, just missed out on the games. The games are always nice, after doing the running you want to play in them.
"What I need at the moment is match practice."
