LEDLEY RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

Ledley King believes our ability to score goals will see us through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup against PSV Eindhoven tonight.

We are aiming to over-turn a 1-0 deficit against the Dutch side from the first leg of the Round of 16 at The Lane last week, and the skipper feels this is not beyond us.

After putting four goals past West Ham in the league on Sunday, Ledley believes this is a challenge both he and the rest of the team will rise to.

He said: “We’re a confident team and we know we can score goals, so we’ll certainly be taking that into the game and we believe we can turn it around.

“It’s a game that you want to be involved in. We realise PSV are a tough side - we knew that before last week and nothing’s changed – but there’s still 90 minutes of football to be played.”

Ledley was impressed with the way our opponents performed at The Lane last Thursday but does not believe this will affect our own enthusiasm for tonight’s challenge.

He continued: “PSV have played a lot of Champions League football over the years and you could see that from the way they were a good, organised side.

“They came to White Hart Lane with a game-plan that they carried out perfectly from their point of view, but we were disappointed that we didn’t play with the normal tempo we do at home.

“Now we’ve got a second leg and as much as we realise it’s going to be a tough game, all the lads are looking forward to it.”
