Ledley King is the first of a number of our players to reflect on what has been the 2008-09 season this summer on Spurs TV Online.
The defender was a rock in a successful defence which leaked just 10 goals in home league fixtures over the course of the campaign.
Having played just 10 times throughout the previous season due to his well-documented knee problems, Ledley made an encouraging 29 appearances in all competitions this time around.
But even he admits to being hit hard by the start of our league campaign, that left us with just two points just from our first eight games.
He says: "It was very difficult and not a nice place to be in. Questions kept arising after every game and we were finding ourselves under more and more pressure as the weeks went by.
"We realised that, with only two points, we were quite some distance off getting out of the relegation zone.
"There was no escaping. Nine games into the season and there was talk about relegation - that's not a position Spurs should be in."
Enter Harry Redknapp, who Ledley believes made a massive impact on the team's fortunes, along with his coaching staff, when they arrived at The Lane in late October.
But the England international also feels much of our eventual recovery to finish the season in the top eight has been down to the players themselves.
"Something drastic had to happen, and fortunately we managed to go on a very good run that put us in a much healthier position.
"It's a strange game. We couldn't buy a win under the previous manager, but Harry comes in for his first game, didn't really change anything, but we all got a lift.
"All of a sudden, we got our first result, and from there the confidence just grew and grew. We managed to take that with us in picking up a healthy amount of points in a small space of time.
"From there we just kept going, digging out points, and showing some good form, and the manager and his staff have had a lot to do with that.
"It was a tough first nine or 10 games of the season, very tough, but fair play for the lads to working hard and managing to get ourselves out with plenty of time to spare."
Ledley also speaks about our home form, especially the defensive record we achieved as a result; captaining the side at Wembley in the Carling Cup Final for the second year in a row; and the backroom team who have kept him fit enough to play consistently throughout the season.
The only place to see Ledley's end-of-season review in full is exclusively on Spurs TV Online.
