LEDLEY ON THE NEW BOYS

Ledley King says the new signings have bedded in well and he has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the trio in the First Team squad.

Dimitar Berbatov and Benoit Assou-Ekotto have already featured strongly in the pre-season programme, while Didier Zokora got 45 minutes under his belt for the Spurs XI side against Cambridge City.

Pre-season is going well with wins all the way, but Ledley reasons the period is more about reaching match fitness and bonding with the new boys.

"It is always difficult to tell how things are shaping up in pre-season because mostly you want to get fit and give the new players time to settle in and find their feet," considered the skipper, who will not play a further part in the preparations due to a knee injury.

"We've been happy with what we've seen from them, we've made them feel welcome and I feel our squad is stronger for this season. Everyone is just looking forward to the season starting now."

Here is Ledley's verdict on the new additions:

DIMITAR
"Obviously we have had a few weeks to work with him now and you can see what he is about in training. Although he didn't score in France, you knew it was just going to be a matter of time with him and it didn't take too long for him to make his mark at Birmingham with two great finishes.

"I am looking forward to playing with him in the league. He looks like a great finisher and I'm sure he is going to prove a great signing for the club."

BENOIT
"I've been impressed with Benoit. I hadn't heard too much about him before he came but, on his first day in training, he showed he is a good player who will hopefully become a great player for us.

"He is tough to beat, strong, has great distribution of the ball - and he is still young. He is only going to get better and I really like what I see."

DIDIER
"Unfortunately I missed the Ivory Coast games, but I heard good reports about him from the World Cup. I know his teammate Kolo Toure quite well, I have spoken to him and he told me what a great player Didier is. He is another one we're looking forward to working with."
