Ledley King believes the passion and personality of Martin Jol is beginning to rub off on the players as the team chases five straight wins in the Barclays Premiership.
The current team captain feels the Dutchman's emphasis on mentality, character and good habits is what the young squad need to push them forward into becoming a regularly winning outfit.
The early signs are good in the Premiership, the team have responded to six defeats with four straight wins going into the Christmas period and Ledley says the methods and character of the Head Coach has much to do with the upturn in fortunes.
"It has to," reasoned the England international. "Everyone has said it, he is passionate about his football and wants to be a winner. He is trying to get that across to the players and it is great.
"I think it is what we needed, someone to push us on as we've got a lot of young players. We need to get used to being in winning ways and become winners.
"Over the last few years the club has had to put up with the mediocre, winning a couple of games then losing. We need to get the right mentality to win games regularly and that is what we've started doing."
Given the recent form, Ledley reports that everything is upbeat at Spurs Lodge and training has a real fizz to it.
"Definitely, I can't remember too many times over the years where we have had four straight wins. It is great for the club, great for confidence and it has moved us right up the League. We are now looking to work on the back of it.
"Everyone is enjoying life at the moment. When you are winning and playing well you enjoy it and are happy about everything - that is how it is now."
