April could well prove to be the defining month in our season. That's the view of our whole squad as they prepare for a testing sequence of games against the high-flying clubs and captain Ledley King is determined to play his part.
"There's a real feeling here that we're on the verge of something," says Ledley. "This will be an ongoing test...but I know we'll step up a gear."
Ledley, writing in his own exclusive column in the latest issue of our monthly magazine hotspur, knows that others have a far easier conclusion to their campaigns in the race for fourth place. But, as we've seen recently, consistency will be the key and our opponents are dropping points as the race warms up.
He continues: "Will we be successful? The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United will ask searching questions that we have to answer. Because all three have their own agendas and will be just as determined to shatter our dream for the sake of their own.
"It could hardly be tougher...but we know that any side can prevail over another. We can't worry about them; our focus has to be on working to the positives and doing our own thing well because they know they have every reason to respect us in turn.
"That's down to us; not to our opposition, nor any other outside influence. We have to rely on our own ability to achieve; not on events elsewhere going our way."
Meanwhile Ledley, who has nursed his troublesome knee through the season, hopes to be standing tall alongside his team mates at this critical part of our programme.
He concludes: "I've been unable to be there every step of the way...but I'm determined to play my part now."
