It was around this time last year that on one such jog, Ledley suffered a hip injury that saw him miss the pre-season conditioning and the season proper until mid-November.
However, it has not completely put him off and the talented central defender says he might just be tempted to still do a bit of work on his own during the summer.
"I still could be going for a run - but it will be a totally different kind of run," said Ledley. "More on a flat surface with short sharp work rather than a long drawn out jog."
The twice-capped England international does feel that missing last season's preparations affected his form throughout the campaign.
"Personally I feel that I need my pre-seasons to get me in shape and feeling at a peak. That brings confidence.
"It is hard to just join in with a season and build up your sharpness just in training and matches.
"I think it did affect me. I feel a lot sharper and a lot more confident when I've done a pre-season."
Ledley King admits that he will steer clear of lengthy jogs ahead of the forthcoming season.
