The awards were presented at a charity dinner hosted by comedian Alan Davies in London, which raised more than £100,000 for the national charity Willow.

Ledley won the Club Legend award, which recognises a recently retired player’s outstanding achievements in football.

Other nominees for this award were Robert Di Matteo, Chris Powell and Gianfranco Zola OBE. Ledley was unanimously selected by an independent judging panel, and presented with his award by fellow Spurs legend Jimmy Greaves.

The expert judging panel comprised of talkSPORT presenters, Paul Hawksbee & Andy Jacobs; Evening Standard chief football correspondent, James Olley; sports broadcaster, Jim Rosenthal; Sky Sports commentator, Dickie Davis; Arsenal & Scotland legend, Bob Wilson and Spurs & England legend, Martin Chivers.

England manager, Roy Hogdson, received his Lifetime Achievement Award and Tony Carr, the Willow Award (which recognises a legends’ contribution outside of the professional game) awarded for his coaching career with the West Ham youth team.

The London Football Legends Awards Dinner raised much needed funds for Willow – a national charity that provides unique and positive Special Days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds.

Willow was founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper and sports presenter, Bob Wilson and his wife, Megs and in memory of their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged just 31.

To date Willow has fulfilled more than 10,000 Special Days for young people living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy, organ failure and Huntington’s.
