Ledley King knows that a strong start to our new domestic season will quickly help him forget the disappointments of the World Cup.

The Spurs skipper, who was successfully nursing his ongoing knee problem through games, endured the intense frustration of then suffering a totally unrelated groin strain in his first outing for England in South Africa.

Now, thankfully, that's all behind him. He's back in training, played the first half of our recent win at Ipswich Town and followed up with 70 minutes against Fiorentina on Saturday.

"I'm over that groin strain and now I can't wait to embark on what I'm sure will be an exciting season," he reports in the current issue of Hotspur magazine.

"In fact we have a lot to look forward to; this looks like being a massive season for this club. There's a real sense of confidence about the place because we showed what we could do last season.

"But that's no good unless we build on it. If we don't advance, if we don't show an improvement on last term then we're standing still and that's no good for a club like Tottenham Hotspur.

"We have to show that last season's finish was the start of something and that we're good enough to graduate to the next level."
