Ledley King believes he is in with a shout of making his return against Liverpool on Saturday after four games on the missing list.

The central defender suffered a slight groin tear in his last outing against Birmingham City on Boxing Day and was absent for the remainder of the Christmas programme, as well as Sunday's FA Cup reverse to Leicester City.

I had a little tear in my aductor and have been out for two weeks now," said the skipper. "Normally in two weeks you don't miss many games but, with the time of year, I have been unfortunate and missed four.

"I am hopeful I might be back in the squad for the Liverpool game. I have only just started to run in the last two days, but my injury feels okay and I don't think my fitness has suffered too much. If I can build it up more throughout the week then hopefully I can be involved on Saturday. The signs are good at the moment.

"I missed the first four games of the season and came back against Liverpool - and it looks like it could be the same again after missing another four. It is quite strange."
