It was Ledley’s first trip to Switzerland, which saw him surprise 35 members of Swiss Spurs at an event held at the home of FC Basel, St Jakob Park.
After taking time to hear from fans about their love of the Club and stories of trips to the Lane, Ledley took part in a Q&A and photo session with the group. Many of the guests also brought along treasured memorabilia from seasons gone by for the former skipper to sign.
The celebration was organised by the Swiss Spurs Supporters Club committee who had been keeping Ledley’s visit top secret for a number of weeks in order to treat members to a nice surprise to mark the anniversary.
Ledley said: “I always enjoy meeting fans and talking to them about their most memorable experiences of watching the team over the years. No matter what age the people are that I meet or the country I visit, our fans are always extremely passionate and supportive.
“I’d like to thank all members of Swiss Spurs for their hospitality and for giving me the opportunity to be part of their 10 year anniversary celebrations.”
Speaking about the visit, Daniel Graf, chair of Swiss Spurs Supporters Club, said: “It was difficult not being able to share the excitement prior to the event but when we saw the look on our members’ faces when Ledley King entered the stage it was truly worth the wait!
“I would like to thank Ledley for making this a day our members will never forget. It was an honour and pleasure to welcome him to Switzerland and everyone really enjoyed the day.
“Being part of a Supporters Club has a certain magic that brings Spurs fans all over the world together. Even though languages and cultures vary, we all share the same love for Tottenham Hotspur. We’re just one big family.”
