Spurs Ladies were on Sunday given a harsh lesson on how tough their big step up to the Women’s Premier League South will be this season.
Despite a bright opening half an hour, Karen Hills’ side were on the wrong end of a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Portsmouth following last week’s opening day draw against West Ham.
Karen said: “I’m disappointed with the way we played. Even though Portsmouth are a well organised and good side, we gifted them a few goals and at this level we cannot afford to do that.
“The concentration level of the girls wasn’t there for the whole game which caused us problems. This is a good learning curve for our girls and I’m sure they will take it on board going forward.”
The Ladies will be hoping to bounce back immediately against QPR this Sunday.
