The Argentina international put in a commanding performance as we saw off Alan Pardew’s side 1-0 at White Hart Lane.

Reflecting on the game, the 23-year-old felt the manner of our display warranted the three points.

“Honestly I think we deserved to win because we played aggressively and we created some big chances,” he said.

“Palace were good and they created chances as well but our defenders did good work.

“I am happy because we won, not because individuals played well – the most important thing for me is always the win and getting the three points for our supporters. When they are happy I am too and when we win a game like this I can go home feeling good.”

Attentions turn swiftly to Wednesday’s massive third round tie with Arsenal in the Capital One Cup, with Erik underlining how the end result is the only thing that matters.

“We need to win the derby,” he added. “For me it’s not about playing well or playing badly, we just need to make sure we win and continue with our momentum.”
