The Argentinian international knows he follows in legendary footsteps just over 35 years since the arrival of Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa.
"I hope I can make the same transition as they did and be as good as they were," Erik told Spurs TV in his exclusive, first interview - available FREE (just register for e-Hotspur) - at the Training Centre.
Welcome to Spurs, Erik. What are your first thoughts on joining the Club?
Erik: "I’m really happy to be here. It’s a great move for me and I’m looking forward to doing my best for the team in every game."
Are you looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Premier League?
Erik: "I’m very excited about playing in the Premier League and I can’t wait to get started."
What are your thoughts on the squad here at Spurs?
Erik: "I’ve only had one training session and I’ve met all the players, they all seem really nice guys and I think we have a great group of players this season. I’m hoping to integrate myself very quickly."
You are an attacking player, you must be looking forward to playing our style of football.
Erik: "I like the English style of football, it’s very offensive and attacking and that’s how I want to play. I have to adapt to playing in the Premier League as quickly as I can."
You are not the first Argentinian to play for Spurs - Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa are legendary former Spurs players.
Erik: "I’m really happy to be here and I know I’m following in big footsteps with those two players, and I respect them a lot. I’m hoping I can make the same transition (as they did) and be as good as they were."
Finally, what are your ambitions for the season?
Erik: "To maintain the winning streak we’re on, to integrate into the team as quickly as I can and for us to continue doing what we’re doing – winning games. I’m ready to give it my best."
