Lads set for Otten Cup

Our Academy squad have travelled to Holland for PSV's prestigious Otten Cup tournament.

The lads have been drawn against Dutch teams FC Twente and Heerenveen and Fenerbache of Turkey in Group A.

Group B consists of hosts PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht, Real Madrid and Pao de Acucar of Brazil.

We kick-off against FC Twente on Friday before matches against Heerenveen and Pao de Acucar on Saturday.

The top two teams in each group face each other in the semi-finals on Sunday morning before the play-offs to decide placings for the whole tournament - 7th/8th, 5th/6th, 3rd/4th and the final.

The lads performed well in the Eurofoot tournament in Belgium last month where they lost just once in five matches - but that loss against Anderlecht cost them a place in the semi-finals. The squad eventually finished fifth after hammering Standard Liege 4-0 in the play-off.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe said: "This is an excellent tournament and one that we've been invited to. Irrespective of results, the experience of going out there and playing these games, especially in such a short space of time, will be excellent for all the players."
