Our Academy finished runners-up in the prestigious Eurofoot tournament in Belgium.

After beating Celtic 2-0 in the semi-final on Sunday morning - and in doing so, making it six wins in six - the lads lost 2-0 to Brazilian side Botafogo in the final.

The lads reeled off five wins out of five on Friday and Saturday to top Group A and set-up the semi-final against Celtic.

Harry Kane (pictured) was on hand to open the scoring in the first half, following in after Kudus Oyenuga's effort from Tom Carroll's knock down was saved by the goalkeeper.

Kane then secured the win and a place in the final with a free-kick from the edge of the box for 2-0 in the last minute.

"We played well and were in control throughout, Celtic didn't really have any opportunities," said coach Alex Inglethorpe.

The final kicked-off at 3.30pm UK time on Sunday and, unfortunately, Alex reported that for the first time in the tournament, the lads didn't perform.

Botafogo opened the scoring in the 15th minute, Shaq Coulthirst saw our best effort saved by the goalkeeper and the Brazilian side wrapped it up with the second five minutes from time.

"We just didn't get going," said Alex. "Botafogo scored early on and even though we enjoyed plenty of possession and put in plenty of effort, we couldn't create a clear-cut chance.

"It was a real shame but the final didn't get near the levels of our other matches.

"I can't fault the lads though. To win six out of six before the final was a real achievement and as a squad, the players will have gained a lot from the tournament."

Squad: Archer, Byrne, Nicholson, Ekong, Lancaster, Luongo, Coulthirst, Kane, Pritchard, Ranieri, Oyenuga, Durojaiye, Munns, Tapping, Francis-Angol, Ward, Carroll.
