Our Academy side kicked-off the Tournoi International de Football de Monthey with an unfortunate 1-0 defeat to Real Murcia in Switzerland on Wednesday night.

The lads had the majority of the play in the first of three group games in this Under-20 tournament but couldn't find a response to the Spanish side's 15th-minute goal.

Jon Obika (pictured) came closest when he rattled the woodwork in the second half in Vouvry.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "We had lots of chances but Murcia hit us on the counter-attack in the first half.

"Murcia then had a player sent off and we basically did everything but score and our biggest problem was the quality of the pass in the final third of the pitch wasn't good enough.

"It's the first time in a while we've started a tournament with a defeat and it will be interesting to see how the lads react."

The lads now face Swiss side FC Sion in their second group mach tonight (Thursday). Sevilla beat FC Sion 1-0 in the other group game yesterday. The matches are played over 70 minutes.

Spurs: Button, Smith (Olsen, 60), Hutchins, Kasim (Rose, 45), Mtandari (Archibald-Henville, 36), Martin, Hutton, Livermore, Obika, Mason, Fraser-Allen (Pekhart, 36).
