Our Under-18s recovered from a slow start to pick up a fine point against high-flying Southampton on Saturday.
Coach Alex Inglethorpe admitted the Saints - top of Group A of the Premier Academy League - could have been out of sight inside the first 25 minutes.
But they only scored once in that period and the scores were level by half-time when Jack Munns (pictured) broke clear to finish one-on-one.
That's how it stayed despite chances galore in an end-to-end second half.
"Southampton were better in the first half and probably deserved to be more than 1-0 up," reported Alex.
"They caused us a lot of problems and we simply didn't have an answer.
"They went 1-0 up after about 25 minutes and we were forced into a change after that because Ronnie Hawkins wasn't feeling too well. Daniel Day came on and did well and Calum Tapping moved into central midfield.
"We gained a bit more control after that and equalised just before half-time when Jack Munns was sent clear. He had a lot of time to think about it and sometimes they are not the easiest to convert but he did it well.
"The second half was end-to-end, like a basketball match. Both teams had efforts cleared off the line, both teams had a goal disallowed and Massimo Luongo struck a great shot that hit the woodwork.
"We were much improved in the second half but we were lucky to still be in the game after that first 20 minutes."
Spurs U18s: Miles; McQueen, Durojaiye, Stewart, Tapping; Munns, Hawkins (Day, 25), Luongo, McBride (Champion, 80); Ball (McEvoy, 60), Coulthirst. Unused subs: Archer, Yeboah.
Cardiff City U18s 0-0 Spurs
The lads dominated this re-arranged PAL fixture played at Reading last week.
They struck the woodwork twice - Shaq Coulthirst and Kenneth McEvoy the unlucky pair - and did everything but score.
"It was one of the performances I've been most pleased with," said Alex.
"We played really well, controlled the game and created lots of chances.
"The performance was excellent, the only thing missing was the goals to go with it."
Spurs U18s: Miles; Tapping (Barthram, 58), Ekong, Stewart, Day; Munns, Hawkins, Luongo, McBride; Champion (McEvoy, 65), Coulthirst. Unused subs: Archer, Williams, Yeboah.
