Our Academy squad are through to the semi-finals of the 'Torneo Internazionale' in Bellinzona, Switzerland, with a game still to go in the group stage.
They beat local side Team Ticini 2-1 on Friday night to top their group with six points out of six so far. Team Ticini and Guarany, who the lads beat on Thursday, are on three points each and Dinamo Bucharest bottom with two defeats.
Fielding the youngest side in the tournament - four Under-16 players featured in this game - a goal in the first half from Yaser Kasim (pictured) and Kudos Oyenuga's last-minute strike saw the lads home.
Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "We started with Nathan Byrne and Tom Carroll up front, Adam Smith played centre-half, so we had players out of position and Team Ticini were older than us, so we were excellent.
"We were outstanding in the first half and deservedly took the lead after about 15 minutes with a great finish from Yaser Kasim.
"We continued to play well but had a wobbly spell five minutes before half-time and they equalised in the last minute when we conceded from a needless free-kick.
"The second half was a lot tighter and we defended well - Sam Cox was excellent as was Olumide Durojaiye on his debut at right-back.
"We created a couple of chances late on and we scored the winner when Yaser Kasim crossed for Kudos Oyenuga to finish.
"Overall, we played very well and it was a great result."
The lads complete the group stages against Dinamo Bucharest this afternoon (Saturday, 4pm local time).
Spurs: Ranieri, Durojaiye (Kane, 50), Cox, Caulker, Smith, Butcher, Nicholson (Parrett, 45), Ekim, Byrne, Kasim (Waller Lassen, 59), Carroll (Oyenuga, 40).
