Our Under-18s came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 against Bristol City in the Premier Academy League on Saturday.
Everything looked rosy when Jesse Waller Lassen opened the scoring with just eight minutes on the clock after good work from Kevin Stewart.
However, after controlling the early possession, the lads suddenly found themselves 3-1 down as the visitors struck three times in quick succession before the break.
An early response was needed in the second half and Kudus Oyenuga delivered with an opportunist strike 10 minutes after the restart.
Oyenuga was then denied from the penalty spot after Alex Pritchard was brought down but the equaliser arrived 10 minutes from time when Laste Dombaxe was in the right place at the right time to fire home from close range.
"If you split the game into six 15-minute sections, then for five of those six sections we actually played very well," reported coach Alex Inglethorpe.
"Unfortunately, in the other 15 minutes, we were unbelievably poor.
"We were up against an older side, a physical side and if you take the scoreline away and just look at the performance, you'll see our intention to play and keep possession and I was pleased with that.
"It's a learning curve for a lot of these players and on this occasion, both as individuals and a team, they came out with credit."
