Tottenham Hotspur Ladies suffered late agony for the second-successive match as they fight for survival in the Southern Division of the FA Women's Premier League.

Goals from Davina Smith and Wendy Martin looked to have secured a valuable three points against QPR in the rain and mud at Uxbridge FC on Sunday.

But Rangers capitalised on a back pass that got stuck in the mud to equalise with two minutes remaining.

Spurs started well and a cross from Robyn McEvoy was turned home by Davina at the far post.

Her joy didn't last long though as she suffered a broken nose in the 15th minute and was forced out of the action, replaced by youngster Danni Albertsen.

There were no more chances in the first half and the ladies were forced into another change at half-time when skipper Sam Pittuck was replaced by Andra Marcoci, another youngster to come through the ranks.

QPR levelled two minutes into the second half through Sarah Staples but Spurs hit back within 10 minutes when another cross from Robyn was converted, this time by Wendy.

With the pitch deteriorating, Robyn Downie's back pass got caught in the mud, Sarah Staples nipped in and scored the equaliser.

"I'm really proud of the shift the ladies put in, they deserved the three points," said manager, Juan Amoros. "It's the second time in a row we've lost two points in the final minute.

"We travel to Gillingham next week and that's another crucial game for us.

"There are five teams trying to avoid relegation and Gillingham is one of them. We'll go there and try to get the three points, as always."
