SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 8

Tottenham Hotspur U11 Tournament

Playing as a team for the very first time, the Spurs Ladies Under-10s lifted the Plate in the first THLFC U11 tournament. Playing against team with a year’s more experience and more physical presence, they held Enfield Town U11 to a 0-0 draw in the semi-final before progressing to meet West Ham United U11 in the final with the same outcome.

A pre-season friendly victory will boost the Under-15 Blues spirits ahead of their league opener next Sunday.

Goals from Ebony Clarke, a towering Rosie Daly header and striker Katie Walters gave Spurs a lead, which they held onto despite tiring in the latter stages of the match.

Newly-formed Lea Valley United Under-16s found their Tottenham counterparts in fine form as they readied themselves for next week’s opening league fixture.

Spurs hit the woodwork six times, the Lea Valley keeper made several fine saves and this could still not stop Dee Grant netting a double hat-trick and a treble from Sophie Petros. Further goals were scored by Becky Shephard (2), Rebecca Hunneyball (2), Semma Halal, Ryah Vyse, Charlie Archer, Shikiera Richards-Lake and Stavroulla Panayiotou, to give the Under-16 side great confidence going into their competitive fixtures.

GLRWFL CUP – ROUND 1

An impressive first day win saw the Spurs Ladies Reserves through to the Second Round of the League Cup with a convincing away win.

Katie Taylor’s sweetly hit shot gave Tottenham the lead and then Kirsty Allen struck a left foot shot into the net to double the lead. A move that started with the Spurs keeper Lacey Amato passed through the team and ended with Fiona Butterfield dinking the ball over the Bushey keeper to make it 3-0 and although the home side got one goal back, Spurs went into the break 4-1 ahead thanks to Taylor’s second goal.

On the hour, the lead was pegged back further, but substitute Hayley Graham (pictured above) drilled home a corner for a debut goal and then Butterfield grabbed her second goal of the game set up by Sam Garner to round off a satisfying 6-2 victory.

LONDON & SOUTH-EAST WOMEN’S REGIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE – PREMIER DIVISION

Spurs Ladies started their league programme with a fighting win over an-injury hit London Women side.

Kat Clifton netted from a corner to give Spurs the lead, but the home side came back to lead 2-1 at the interval.

As the game restarted, Tottenham started to impose their passing game, but it was only when London Women lost their goalkeeper and were reduced to ten players through an injury to an outfield player that Spurs managed to pierce their defence.

Jessie Richards was twice in the right place to fire home a save from Vicci Pritchard’s shot and then to put a finish to Claire Singh’s pinpoint cross to steal the three points for a confident start to the campaign.
