John Lacy made his first appearance for the Spurs Legends side as a team of ex-White Hart Lane favourites ran out comfortable winners on a gloriously sunny day in Hertfordshire.
Lacy partnered Graham Roberts in the heart of the defence, while Garry Brooke, Steve Sedgley and Mark Stimson were also in form for a charity match in Letchworth.
The match was watched by over 1,000 fans, and it wasn't long before Spurs went in front.
Following an attack down the right, Steve Smart fired past the advancing Letchworth keeper nine minutes in, before Smart was again on hand to make it 2-0 just after the quarter-hour mark as the defence was caught napping.
Letchworth applied some pressure as they tried to get back into the game, but they fell further behind on 33 minutes when Stimson fired home.
Letchworth had the ball in the net following a glancing header shortly afterwards but the effort was ruled out, and with the home players still protesting, Spurs went back on the offensive and Steve Sedgley duly scored to make it 4-0. The hosts did finally get on the scoresheet on 38 minutes.
The second half failed to produce as many goals with several players tiring in the heat, but there was still enough left in the tank for substitute Micky Jarrett to make it five.
