Seen as our best performance of the season so far, the team came from 1-0 down to topple the Toffees 2-1 in a display full of energy and endeavour in the Premier League at the Lane.
That was just before a big step on Kyle’s return as the full-back completed 67 minutes in our Under-21s 2-1 win against Manchester City at Stevenage on December 1.
Kyle followed up with his first full 90 minutes in a training match against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday and was back in first team action on Thursday night, completing 75 minutes in our Europa League clash against Besiktas.
“We all want to go out and perform at the level we’re capable of,” said Kyle. “Look at the game against Everton. That was fantastic, a joy to watch. I was raring to go again after that.
“It’s been a long 10 months for me mentally and physically. I’ve had to dig deep. Luckily I’ve had my team-mates and family around me to help me get through the difficult times.
“I’ve played a lot of matches, rarely missed a game, so it’s been difficult. In a way, it’s been good to step back and look at other aspects of my game, things I didn’t think about when I was playing week in, week out.
“I want to move on now. I’m back fully fit, had three weeks training and it’s been a good recovery. I’m happy with everything and hopefully I’ll put it all behind me. I’m looking to the future.”
