Second goalscorer Kyle Walker-Peters identified our clean sheet against a tough Wolves side as one of the main positives to come out of Thursday’s FA Youth Cup victory.

Kyle Walker-Peters fires home for 2-0Kyle celebrates with first goalscorer Ismail Azzaoui

The right-back made the Fourth Round tie safe when he latched onto Cy Goddard’s through ball and rifled inside the near post shortly after the hour mark, completing a 2-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Ismail Azzaoui had earlier opened the scoring, with defender Kyle thrilled to make his mark at both ends of the pitch as we booked a Fifth Round clash with Manchester United on a date to be confirmed.

“The defence did really well and it’s good to get a clean sheet because in the last round we conceded from a set piece, which was obviously disappointing,” said the full-back.

“Also this time I’m happy to get on the scoresheet. I saw the opportunity to get forward, I noticed their defender was still a bit high up so I thought ‘why not?’

“My coach is always talking about assists, goals and who are the effective players and I think that’s important – especially for me, being a full-back.

“We took our chances in the game and we’ve been working on becoming a lot more clinical. We’ve been to a lot of tournaments and those sorts of matches really reinforce that message because in shorter games you learn that you have to take your chances.

“Overall, we’re delighted to get through and it’s exciting that we’ve got Manchester United in the next round.”
