Kuyt, six goals in 15 league starts this term, kicked-off his career at FC Utrecht before joining Feyenoord in 2003 – the same time as Hossam – and went on to score 71 goals in 101 games before Liverpool swooped in the summer.
“I played with Dirk for almost three years, he’s a good lad, physically very strong and works very hard,” said Hossam, who has started four of our last five matches.
“He always gives 100 per cent whether it’s in training or on matchday and he’ll score goals if he’s given the chances. He hasn’t many weak points but his strength is a big thing, especially here in England.”
Hossam admitted the lads are determined to banish the memory of the 3-0 defeat at Anfield earlier in the season, where we competed well for an hour, missed a golden chance to go ahead and then conceded after 63, 73 and 89 minutes.
Since then we’ve lost just three games in 22 and won 12 on the trot at home in all competitions.
“We are highly motivated for this match, we’re close to Liverpool in the table, we play them at home and we’re confident we can do well,” added Hossam.
“It’s a big team full of quality players and we know we will have to play well to beat them but it’s difficult for any team to beat us at home.”
Hossam Ghaly sees his former team-mate Dirk Kuyt as the perfect striker for the Premiership. The Egyptian international midfielder spent two-and-a-half seasons with Dutch international Kuyt at Feyenoord before joining us in January this year.
