Fitness Coach Perspectives
In this series I will cover a variety areas pertinent to the background against which fitness coaching is formed.
I have come to the conclusion that my role centres around the prevention of the premature onset of fatigue.
In fact one of the reasons I entered the scientific arena was due to my interest in the causes of human fatigue during sport.
In so many instances much of the work that is performed physically centres around the preparation for, participation in and recovery from training and match play.
To this end, the delaying and removal of fatigue is a common theme. Everything from flexibility, nutrition, massage and modes of training are all geared around the concept of fatigue.
It is surprising then to realise that so little effort is made into understanding its causes!
Nevertheless the world of Sport Science has made terrific headway in attempts to understand this phenomenon with the aim of enhancing sports performance across a wide range of pursuits.
In the next couple of weeks I will outline some areas which fall under the umbrella of a fitness coach.
