The left-sided star found himself in what he described as a 'strange' position of playing against us on Sunday just four days after being recalled by Charlton from his loan spell at the Lane.
In what was his first start for Charlton since the opening day of the season, Paul pitted his wits against debutant Stephen Kelly as the Valley outfit nicked a 1-0 win.
Paul made 15 appearances for us in that loan period and is therefore better placed than most to comment on our current predicament.
"It's very tight at the bottom and two or three results on the spin and you are right back up there again," said Paul.
"It's just a matter of getting the confidence back and getting those results. I'm sure the lads are capable of doing that."
As for the game, Paul added: "It was strange but obviously I'm contracted to Charlton and I had to do a job for them. That is where my career is at the moment.
"The loan spell went well for me. I enjoyed it. I played every game for Tottenham so I'm match fit and I went back and played straight away, so the manager must have seen something."
Paul Konchesky is convinced we're capable of turning our fortunes around.
