King takes it in his stride

Posted on 19 December 2000 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ledley King took his first North London derby in his stride.
It was another milestone for his ever-growing footballing CV that includes a debut at Anfield, playing at Old Trafford and now, arguably, the most highly-charged derby in the Premiership.
King again looked so assured in the midfield minefield with a mature performance beyond his 20 years.
The England Under-21 star revealed: “It was everything I expected out there. The pace was unbelievable, the crowd didn’t stop from the first whistle and although it was a bit disappointing in the end, I enjoyed it.
“The pace is another level from a normal Premiership game and that is something I have to take on and learn and try to apply in every game. You can’t hear anything with the crowd and it was frantic, but it was good.”
King reflected the general mood of disappointment after Patrick Vieira headed home a last-minute equaliser for a 1-1 final scoreline.
“We would perhaps have taken a draw before the game but to go ahead and then concede the way we did, with a header from a corner, was disappointing,” he added.
“Neil Sullivan was outstanding and made several brilliant saves. I suppose a draw was a fair result but it was just disappointing to concede in the last minute.”
Listen to Ledley's views by clicking here
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
