The right-back, signed from Burnley this summer, was one of several senior players to get some game time as we saw off the challenge of the Shrimpers at Hotspur Way.
Following his first run-out as a Spurs player, the 24-year-old said the behind-closed-doors contest was a beneficial exercise as he continues to integrate himself into our squad after a positive week on the training pitch.
“Fitness is one of the main things to take from a match like this,” said Kieran after our 4-0 victory.
“It’s always good to get going and playing games and it was a good win for us, but fitness is the most important thing.
“Obviously bonding within the team is massive as well, so it’s been a great chance for me to do that.
“It’s been a good week, everyone at the Club has made me feel at home and it’s obviously good to get to know more about my team-mates’ positions, which is vital.”
With pre-season continuing apace in the coming days, Kieran explained how game situations, coupled with hard work in training, combine to serve as ideal preparation as we build towards the Premier League’s big kick-off on August 8.
“This is what pre-season is for, to get fit, and it’s going to be another tough week next week with the team, the gaffer and the staff, but at the end of the day we want to be prepared for the first league game of the season. It all starts on the training pitch.”
