The boss has eight players missing against the Portuguese giants on Sunday.
That brings the likes of Rob Burch, Stephen Kelly, Dean Marney and Rohan Ricketts to the fore.
Better news is that striker Bobby Zamora and South African captain Mbulelo Mabizela are both set to feature.
"We're hoping we'll get a few lads back before the start of the season but they won't be back in time for the Sporting Lisbon game," Glenn explained.
"Our fans will have to be patient, we're not a full throttle yet because we've got a few players out.
"But it gives us the chance to see the likes of Rohan Ricketts, Dean Marney and Stephen Kelly, who is coming on.
"It's not going to be like we'd normally plan. Normally I'd plan to play the team we'd been working on for the start of the season. That isn't going to happen I'm afraid.
"So we'll have to make sure we get something out of, be positive about it and it's a chance for other players to show me what they can do."
