FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Crystal Palace U17s 0-3 Spurs
Our Under-17s shot to the top of the league with this convincing win at Palace on Saturday.
Danny Foster handed Jimmy Neighbour's lads the perfect start when he headed home Lee Barnet's corner after just four minutes.
Chances came and went before the second goal arrived just before the break. And it was that man again as Jamie Slabber cut in from the left before finishing across the goalkeeper into the far corner.
Palace had their best spell after that and Paul Rutherford (pictured right) produced what Jimmy described as 'the best save I've seen for a long time' to tip aside a one-on-one chance.
Slabber then turned on the style again to hand Barnet the chance to smash the third and decisive goal into the roof of the net.
A delighted Jimmy enthused: "We started ever so well, got the goal and created plenty of chances after that, only our finishing let us down.
"It was even at the start of the second half, Palace came out and worked harder and Paul's save came at just the right time for us. It was very significant.
"It is nice to be top of the league but at the end of the day it is all about progression and these lads doing the right things.
"Of course it would be nice to win the league and we all want to do that but it's not the main thing. It's early days yet for these boys and it's important they continue to progress."
