KICK & COOK
Home cooking is high profile at the moment.
Cooking is making a comeback in schools through initiatives such as Licence to Cook and Let's Get Cooking; from 2011 it will be compulsory for all 11-14 year olds to be taught to make basic meals from scratch at school.
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation's (THF) Education department have been investigating creative and innovative ways of delivering this part of the curriculum by using club facilities and involving local partners in our Kick & Cook programme.
THF have partnered the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Haringey 6th Form Centre to design the five week Kick & Cook course which covers diet and nutrition from a footballer's perspective.
The course includes a week of theory in the club's state-of-the-art Learning Zone then three weeks practical cooking sessions in the club kitchens led by a professional chef from Haringey 6th Form Centre.
The Kick & Cook dvd which accompanies the course was filmed at our club training ground and features first team players discussing their favourites dishes and supports the key messages about choosing a balanced diet.
The dvd also contains step by step instructions for cooking three first team favourites - paella, vegetable curry and lasagne.
The DVD is now available to view on our website in five sections:
Ledley King's Paella
Alan Hutton's Vegetable Curry
Darren Bent's Lasagne
