We take on Spanish giants Real Madrid inside the 75,000-seater venue this evening before playing either Bayern or AC Milan on Wednesday as we step up our preparations for the new Premier League season.
Centre-half Kevin remembers playing at the stadium when his former side 1. FC Köln met Bayern in the German Bundesliga back in February and, having suffered a 4-1 defeat on that occasion, is naturally keen to enjoy better fortunes with us this week.
In additon, as we prepare for back-to-back games in Munich, the 22-year-old believes our players will relish the chance to take on some of the world’s most illustrious sides at such an impressive enclosure.
“The stadium is amazing and it’s still really new,” said Kevin. “When I went there with Köln the game was amazing, the stadium was sold out with 75,000 people in attendance and it’s going to be full up when we play there this week as well.
“It’s sure to be a good feeling for us to run out there and I’m sure the players will love the stadium, although we know tonight’s game will be a very tough test for us.
“Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world and it will not be easy for us, but we will try our best and hopefully we will enjoy a good performance.”
Our fans have once again travelled in numbers to watch the team in action on the continent, with Kevin underlining just what it means to the squad to have that unwavering support – no matter where in the world we are playing.
“I knew before I joined that Tottenham has brilliant fans,” he added. “They support the team at home and away – it doesn’t matter how far away the game is. You really enjoy and appreciate that as a player.”
