Kevin Bond says we'll have to ‘hit the ground running' with Liverpool at the Lane on the opening day of next season.

The provisional Premier League fixture list released on Wednesday handed us that cracker against the Reds at the Lane on Saturday, August 15 followed by trips to Hull on August 19 and West Ham on August 22 - all fixtures subject to change.

Rafa Benitez's men pushed Manchester United all the way in the title race last term before falling four points short in second place.

They lost just twice in the league all season, both away - one at the Lane in November.

"It's a great fixture and there will be no playing our way into the season - we'll need to be at our very best from day one," said assistant boss Kevin.

"Liverpool stayed the distance really well last season. They are a top side and just missed out and I expect them to go even closer. They will make it a real test. They will improve as a side and they will want to come out of the blocks quickly as well.

"It would be great for confidence and would give us a real boost if we could take a scalp like that. It will be tough but every team knows that White Hart Lane is a very difficult place to go to and hopefully it will remain the same next season."

We lost just once in 21 games in all competitions at the Lane following Harry Redknapp's arrival in October including beating Liverpool twice, in the Premier League and Carling Cup. We're unbeaten in 15 games in all competitions and 11 Premier League matches stretching back to December.

"If we could replicate our home form of last season it would be a fantastic achievement," added Kevin. "It will be difficult because we did extraordinarily well at home.

"To do as well as that again would give us a fantastic base for a good season."
